Well, the drive only shows a power on time of 1211 hours. If we give it the benefit of the doubt and assume this was a sequential write at the drive's rated speed of 550MB/s, it would take 595,539 hours to write that amount of data. I was wondering if maybe these drives were used for some data intensive project or write endurance test, so I did the math. But when I opened CrystalDiskInto to verify this, I got quite a suprise. It was expected for them to have some writes, as the seller was "testing" and preinstalling Windows 10 on them for whatever reason. How CrystalDiskInfo predicts Hard Disk Failure DiskInfoX64 is for 64-bit Windows, and DiskInfo is for 32-bit Windows. The first time we run the application, it will immediately show us the S.M.A.R.T. 0 Comments The best it does is statistical predictions, based on the S.M.A.R.T. Failure for most HHD's comes from the electronics and/or motor actuators. Crystaldiskinfo not showing total host writes. HHD's don't typically list total host writes though because unlike SSD's there is no wear on the drive when you write or erase data to it. Regardless, they're going back in an HP computer in a RAID array. You can pull the SMART data off a standard rotating HHD drive using the disk manufacturers disk utility. Not sure if they were new new, or new take-outs. They are OEM HP drives that were sold as "new". I recently purchased two 2TB Micron 1300 2.5" SSDs on eBay. Just make sure to tag the post with the flair and give a little background info/context. Im not aware that my use pattern changed by any means. In the last 10 days, it accumulated 2.3TByte or 230 GByte/day. On Fridays we'll allow posts that don't normally fit in the usual data-hoarding theme, including posts that would usually be removed by rule 4: “No memes or 'look at this '” Ive a 256G SSD in the first 13 months, CrystalDiskInfo reported total host writes of 1.4TByte or 3.5GByte/day. I ran CrystalDiskInfo and noticed that the Total Host Writes were already over 1TB in less. Total host writes is now more then 150 000GB. ![]() ![]() According to the technical specs it has 100TBW. Along the way we have sought out like-minded individuals to exchange strategies, war stories, and cautionary tales of failures. Why does CrystalDiskInfo show 'B1 Vendor Specific' as a bad disk health indicator. Everyone has their reasons for curating the data they have decided to keep (either forever or For A Damn Long Timetm). government or corporate espionage), cultural and familial archivists, internet collapse preppers, and people who do it themselves so they're sure it's done right. Among us are represented the various reasons to keep data - legal requirements, competitive requirements, uncertainty of permanence of cloud services, distaste for transmitting your data externally (e.g.
